DEENA MITRA

Deena Mitra is a registered philanthropic trust of 76 members that offers financial assistance to poor cancer patients. Over the past 25 years, Deena Mitra has focused on fulfilling various schemes exclusively for the benefit of cancer patients, in a small attempt to ease their suffering.

The money generated from the monthly membership contributions and donations from members as well as well wishers of the trust is the corpus fund from which beneficiaries are granted financial aid. Financial assistance is sanctioned to patients, based on a close review of the patient’s own financial background, treatment records and medical bills. A special feature of Deena Mitra’s financial aid scheme is that it is long term and provided on a monthly basis, for the entire duration of the treatment. As per income tax requirement, the accounts are audited by a chartered accountant.

Deena Mitra has also been extensively involved in various other social service activities for the general public. To create general awareness about cancer, Deena Mitra has organized classes conducted by experts on cancer prevention and treatment guiding them to hospital for proper treatment. By personally handing over the financial aid at the patient’s home and comforting them through regular visits, the members have become an inspiration for others also to take up social service.

To share the joy of Onam, Deena Mitra has distributed 100 Onam Kits worth Rs. 84,581/- to poor families in the past 3 years. The trust has also taken part actively in relief activities after the flood that affected Kerala in August , 2018.

Since the past few years have seen a dramatic increase in both the number of cancer patients and the cost of treatment, the trust often finds it difficult to help all patients who apply for financial assistance and also to provide the necessary amount.

All donations made to the trust are eligible for income tax exemption under section 80G (5) (VI) as per order (No. AACTD3223AF20221 dated 11-12-2022), granted by the Income Tax Department.

We invite all benevolent, socially minded organizations to contribute a portion of your income and request that you join us as a fellow participant in this life- saving initiative.
